Club weekend away 9-11th June 2023

Post by Eleanor » Thu Aug 18, 2022 7:54 pm

UPDATE This is now full pending paying of deposits
We are going to pastures new for next years club weekend away, we are off to The Chiltern Hills. We are staying at the lovely St Katherine’s at Parmoor . This is a super facility that is very centrally located with loads of excellent riding routes in the magnificent Chiltern Hills from the doorstep. Steve Keith’s quote when he heard we were going there “I have ridden all over the country and this is up there with my favourites. We have a combination of single and twin rooms with the option of a double as well. The cost for 2 nights is £170 per person which includes bed, breakfast, packed lunch and evening meals (vegan and vegetarian diets catered) for the 2 days. We will be in either the main house or St Joseph’s Annex (see web site for more information). They do not have a drinks licence but they are more than happy for you to bring your own alcohol.
We will be going on Friday 9th June 2023 -Sunday 11th June 2023 at present we have held 24 spaces which gives us 12 in each group and these will be released on a 1st come basis with a deposit of £50.00. Once you commit to going you will be liable for the total amount if you are not able to come and we cannot fill your space but hopefully this wont happen .
A good level of fitness will be needed for riders in both groups because as the name indicates it is hilly but the downs certainly compensate for the ups.
If you can either reply to the forum message or on Facebook your interest and your room preference, obviously we cannot accommodate everyone in a single room but will do our best. I will let you have the bank details on Monday morning where to transfer your deposit money.

Hi Eleanor,
Chiltern weekend, I’m just up the road near High Wycombe,
If I’m around is it ok to join one of your medium pace group, if I’m around that weekend? Thanks Tony e bike

Hi Tony,

I'm one of the ride leaders for the Chilterns weekend, and I'm pretty sure we are over-subscribed already. We usually limit ride groups to 12 riders, maximum, and as far as I am aware, there are currently 12 or 13 riders signed up in the medium group. Perhaps Eleanor could confirm this?

I'm so sorry, but I am reluctant to lead a huge group.

Maybe join us soon for a Sunday club ride instead?

My place on that weekend is now available as I mistakenly booked a trip away with my wife on that weekend.
There's nothing worse than a reformed former derailleur owner..............

Hi Tony , yes we are full for both groups at the moment at 13 in each which is slightly more than we would normally take but demand was high for this trip so we made an exception. So sadly there will not be room to join as a day rider this time

Regards Eleanor
