BBQ ride from Owslebury, 23rd July - PLEASE READ!!

Post by PenHarrison » Fri Jul 14, 2023 12:18 pm

Howdy club members,

Our next Sunday club ride is our annual summer BBQ ride, this year from The Ship Inn, Owslebury. Everyone is welcome to ride whether or not you have booked onto the BBQ afterwards. Here is the plan for the day, please read it, especially the bit about car parking!

Rides starts at 10am, finishes at 1pm. BBQ is at 1.15pm.

This starting point at The Ship Inn gives us a few options, but we will probably head out to Cheesefoot Head and the South Downs Way where the views are lovely and the riding is great. Expect a variety of terrain and trail types, but with Owslebury being the second highest village in Hampshire, there will be some climbing at the end of the ride!

There will be 3 ride groups to choose from: the usual speedy group (Tania leading), a medium group (Pen leading), and a leisurely group (I think Roger will be leading this - can you confirm please Rog?).

For those already booked in for the BBQ, you will get the BBQ party food already booked and pay your £5 balance direct to the pub on the day please.

For those who decide to join in at the last minute, you will be able to order from the regular menu only.

PARKING - PLEASE READ!!!

For those arriving in good time, there are about 8-10 spaces to park at The Ship Inn, in their OVERFLOW car park ONLY. What3Words: ///sharpened.pumps.operating.

If there are no spaces left in the pub overflow car park, you may park on the Glebe Field (30 spaces) which is next to the church on the Main Road in the centre of the village, about 1/4 mile from the pub. What3Words: ///silly.licks.occur. When parking on the Glebe Field, please do not obstruct the public footpath which crosses it, nor the gate to the cemetery. Please also take care not to damage any part of the field, the fences, or the walls.

That's all folks, see you at The Ship Inn on 23rd July, ready to ride at 10am.

Pen x

A leisurely group with Roger leading sounds good to me Pen.

Hi all,

Just to confirm that if the weather is too wet for us to sit outside in the garden on Sunday, the pub has reserved indoor seating for us from 1pm to 2.30pm.

So don't let the rain put you off a good ride and a nosh-up with your club mates afterwards!
