Tom Pidcock - Olympic/World Champion

Post by andypell » Fri Sep 13, 2024 1:55 pm

Hiya,

A few weeks ago a few of us were in le pub talking about what we could use club funds for.
A suggestion came up to book someone in for an inspiring & interesting talk
A few pro cyclist names were mentioned, one of which was Tom Pidcock.
I have absolutely no idea of a) what that would cost and b) if anyone here would be interested but he is bookable.

Would anyone be interested in this? If there's enough interest we could make an enquiry.
Please let us know either way.

Cheers, Andy.
PS: If it was a go'er and we invited other groups to the talk, perhaps we could even make some money?

Hi Andy,

I think it's a good idea, but I also know how hard it is to get anyone to commit to anything (not Tom, I'm talking Newforcers here!). Also, it would be a miracle if you picked a date that suited everyone...

Gee Atherton is currently doing the rounds locally with his 'show' and some of us have tickets for that. Would Tom have something different/better to offer?

I hope you get more replies to your question, the club seems a bit 'flat' at the mo and it would be nice to have a social event to bring us all together.

Thanks Pen!

Agreed, the club does appear somewhat ‘flat’.
I wouldn’t know if Tom could offer something better than Gee, that just comes down to personal preference but there would be differences due to the different paths they’ve taken.

Perhaps an event where those that want be involved just buy tickets could be a better idea but there’s no rush on my suggestion. I just thought since we’ve not long finished the olympics, Tom’s still quite current.

There will never be a day that suits everyone that wants in. The only thing we can do there is have multiple events, perhaps an annual thing and prioritise dates of future events to fit those that couldn't make previous events?

Let’s see how it goes, if there’s no interest, there’s no interest but at least posting this might encourage others to come forward with a suggestion or two :)

Sounds interesting.
We're a long way from Andorra, where he lives, but if he's doing an off-season tour ...
